Tattoo

How much do tattoos hurt?

The pain level varies depending on the person, the part of the body and many other factors. An area such as the arms and legs hurt less compared to a tattoo done on the ribs.

In order to operate, a tattoo studio needs to fulfill all health and safety prerequisites. When a tattoo is done in such a legal, licensed shop (and not at a home or some other space), it is safe. It would be best for clients to always research the tattoo studio they select for their tattoo in terms of cleanliness, professionalism, as well as the artistic quality.

Yes, all tattoos done at Polis Decay Tattoo Studio are permanent. You can’t rub them or wash them off. If you want to remove your tattoo, you will have to find a laser removal clinic and cover the costs yourself. Our space partners with Tattoo Removal Greece, one of the best tattoo removal clinics in Greece.

All tattoos fade in time. However, the proper long term care after healing as well as your skin’s health depending on your lifestyle will help prolong your tattoo’s freshness and reduce the deviation from its original appearance.

  • Not all our artists offer this service. However we have many artists and we offer it as a shop. Provided that it can be done on your tattoo because not all cases are the same.
  • If you have in mind a specific artists, you can send an email with a photo of the tattoo you want to cover as well as references for how you want to cover it. We will then let you know whether the artist you chose can take on the tattoo you want or we will suggest another solution or another of our tattoo artists who can help you.
  • A tattoo cover-up must always be bigger than the original tattoo, usually 4 to 5 times bigger. If you want it to be easier to cover with a smaller-sized tattoo we would recommend a few laser tattoo removal sessions beforehand. That way the initial tattoo will discolor and you will have more options regarding the style and size of the new design.
  • Certain cover-ups may require many tattoo sessions to completely cover the initial tattoo. Each time depends on the case and how dark and deeply inked your old tattoo is.
  • White ink tattoos are accepted on a case-by-case basis. The reason is that white tattoos do not heal as well on all skin types.

  • White tattoos run the risk of either not showing at all on the skin or yellowing over time or becoming dull with repeated passes. Some white tattoos end up looking like a scar.

  • White tattoos will be accepted at the tattoo artist’s discretion.

Even though pain is relative, each person has different tolerance levels. The process of getting a tattoo can cause a mild discomfort, like a scratch.

We recommend doing the following to help you remain comfortable while getting your tattoo:

    • Get enough sleep before your appointment.

    • Eat a healthy breakfast or lunch before your appointment.

    • Try to avoid alcohol consumption on the previous day and also on the day of your appointment.

    • Bring beverages and snacks with you to remain hydrated.

    • Wear something comfortable so that your tattoo artist will have easy access to the tattoo area. It should also be comfortable for you during the process.

    • Trust your artist and try not to be too nervous.

    • Relax as much as you can. Listen to some music, read a book, or simply close your eyes and let your tattoo artist work without distractions.

You can get a tattoo at any time during the year. The only difference is that during the summer months there are limitations on sun exposure when the tattoo is fresh, as well as limitations on swimming in the sea or a pool. These are not allowed in the first weeks for safety (about 15-20 days). In any case, it’s best to care for our tattoo throughout the year and use SPF 30 or 50 when exposing our body to the sun.

Officially, the proper age to get a tattoo is 18. We do not recommend getting a tattoo if you are under 16 years old. If someone is 16 or 17 years old they can get tattooed at our shop with an official declaration, validated by the authorities and signed by a parent. This declaration should state that “I allow my son/daughter * full name * to get a tattoo in this particular body part * body part * with my consent. Signature – Parent’s full name”.

The goal of a good tattoo is to stay on the body forever. How good the artist you choose is in terms of tattoo technique plays a very big role. A proper tattoo is perceived as having the least deviation (in tone and design) on our body from the day we got it. In order for a tattoo to stay properly healed it needs necessary care. In our experience, we have seen that the best healed tattoos are on people who are in good physical condition, watch their diet, lead a healthy life and don’t expose their body to the sun for many hours. Nevertheless, if someone does not or cannot meet the above conditions, they can get a touch-up for their tattoo (touch-up = freshening up an old tattoo with the same or a different piece) always provided that at least a year has passed and the tattoo artist consents.

The needles used are sterile and sealed by the manufacturer. They are opened at the beginning of the tattoo process, in front of the client and are discarded at the end.

The inks we use are plant-based and vegan-friendly. To confirm this, you can ask to see the brands we use and read the ingredients for each ink type.

Regular tattoos have nothing to do with henna tattoos (henna tattoo= tattoos done with a special ink on top of the skin, without a needle, drawing the tattoo design on the body). Most of the time henna inks are not properly certified and can cause infections. For this reason many tattoo studios -ours included – do not undertake this type of tattoo.

Tattooing is done with the help of a special needle, with a container of ink attached to the top. Essentially, the needle punctures the skin with tiny consecutive pricks and inserts color into the dermis, in the place of melanin (melanin is the substance our body produces to darken the skin in the summer under the sun and correspondingly, in its lack, the skin looks lighter in the winter). The needle inserts a special color in a specific area inside the skin το οποίο so that it will not rub away or become absorbed by the body. These small pinpricks inside the skin and the insertion of ink taking place in specific areas create a pretty visual design, our tattoo! In fact, the area where the tattoo is inserted renders the design visible since the surface of the skin is translucent. The tattoo ink colors are usually derived from plant materials and are not harmful. They are inserted into the skin at a 3-5 mm depth.

Tattoo aftercare lasts about 1 to 2 weeks.

  • Once the tattoo session is over, the tattooed area is covered in Vaseline or butter and wrapped in plastic wrap for 5-6 hours (it does not need to be covered again).

  • After that, the wrap is removed and the area needs to be cleaned well, gently and in circular motions. Use your hand (never a sponge), warm water and mild soap (neutral pH) to remove traces of ink, Vaseline, blood, etc.

  • Dry the tattoo area with clean paper (paper towels) using a dabbing motion, without rubbing.

  • Then you can apply the special healing cream (Bepanthol pink or fuchsia) every 3 hours on the freshly tattooed area.

  • In 3 to 4 days the skin will form a scab (you should not scratch that because it will remove the color) and start flaking.

  • Continue applying the cream regularly until your tattoo becomes one with your skin. It needs regular care, cleaning and washing daily (at least twice a day), to be kept moisturized with the special cream. Do not touch it with dirty hands because you can increase the risk of infection.

For people who have pets it’s more likely to get germs on the tattoo. It’s best to keep the tattooed area away from animals, especially during the first weeks. You can also regularly change your sheets, towels, etc. It’s best to use paper towels for proper cleaning and to dab the tattooed area dry. Additionally, during the summer months you need to be careful when coming into contact with beach sand, seawater or pool water, since these can harbor bacteria and can cause infections to a fresh tattoo. The final stage for complete tattoo healing is at 6 months, where you can finally see its permanent form.

To ask “how much a tattoo costs” is like asking how much a car costs. What kind of tattoo, where on the body, what size, black and white or colored, simple or detailed? These factors determine a tattoo’s cost.

It’s best to make an appointment to guarantee your place. However, each tattoo is different. For smaller pieces that don’t need a lot of prep beforehand, you can make an appointment and visit our space directly. Check the shops opening hours on Google Business. It’s first come, first served so you may have to wait a bit if no artists are available when you visit. You can always call to check availability before coming. Each tattoo artist has a different way of working so they might not be available for walk ins. But they can take appointments for a few months or a few weeks in the future. If you have specific dates in mind for your tattoo, it’s always best to let us know a few months ahead in order to book the dates you want because we have clients from all over the world.

  • At Polis Decay Tattoo we offer the option of custom tattoo designs adapted to your own style. Bringing your own design or idea is a great option, but you need to keep in mind that it might not be suitable for tattooing. It might need to be altered or modified for the technical needs of the tattoo so that it can be carried out on human skin.

  • Not all designs or images are suitable for tattooing. By booking an appointment with a Polis Decay artist you can get a consultation on your design. We will inform you whether it can work as a tattoo and where modifications might be needed.

  • All artists at Polis Decay Tattoo Studio reserve the right to refuse to work on anything they consider hateful, racist, obscene, near the genitals or any other body part that may cause the artist discomfort.

  • All artists also reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason, including misconduct, disrespect and/or any inappropriate behavior by any client.
  • By booking an appointment with one of Polis Decay Tattoo’s artists at the studio (via email or on Instagram) you will meet the artist to examine your design’s specifications. tattoo aThe tattoo artist will examine the nature and possibilities of your request and will work with you in order to create the best possible result for your tattoo design. Keep in mind that not all ideas or designs are suitable for tattooing, trust the artist’s opinion to get the best possible tattoo.

  • We do NOT charge for the consultation appointment, however you may need to pay a deposit at the artists’ discretion. The price ranges from 50 to 150 euros and will be deducted from the final price for you tattoo on the day of your appointment. This is the process for initiating the tattoo design and for booking an appointment.

Of course, always depending on the design and each case separately. Keep in mind that tattoos on the inside of the lips can bleed or fade significantly as time passes. In case this particular tattoo fades, the client is always notified beforehand and there is no free touch-up.

This depends on the size and shape of the design, if it will be discreet or in a visible area, like the hands or the face. In case you are concerned about this, it’s best to trust your tattoo artist’s opinion.

    • Tattoo design and placement are a matter of personal taste. Polis Decay Tattoo artists will give you options and opinions about the aesthetic regarding both placement and design. You have the final word because the tattoo will decorate your body for life.

    • Some things to keep in mind before you get a tattoo:

      • Is the design suitable for me?

      • Will it have a negative impact on my work / social life/ or family life?

      • Will it hinder future professional opportunities?

Always think it through before you make any decision for any tattoo you get.

  •

A tattoo design can be a ready-made image someone found on the internet or a custom design, that is specially designed by the tattoo artist exclusively for the client, by drawing the idea and adapting it on the client’s body with greater precision. There are many platforms (Google, Pinterest, etc) for someone to find tattoo ideas through images and photos, as well as from tattoos that artists have done all over the world. Additionally, every tattoo studio usually has its own accounts on social media (@polisdecay) featuring artists’ work and designs, in order to help someone on what tattoo they could get.

A tattoo session may last between 1 and 12 hours. That means that the client getting the tattoo should be in good physical condition to manage his session better and more comfortably. The preparation needed for a tattoo session is good sleep, a shower, resting on the days before the tattoo session, eating a nutritious meal before the session for staying energized. In case the client doesn’t feel well, it would be best to let our shop know as soon as possible.

It’s best to follow the instructions we give at the shop before you get a tattoo. We do not recommend shaving the areas beforehand, because we can’t do the tattoo if there is any injury to the skin.

Usually, hair removal machines detect the hair that has a darker color compared to the skin. Because of that it’s not safe to get laser hair removal on a tattooed area. It’s best to ask at the salon or the clinic where you want to do the hair removal and see what instructions you should follow to protect your tattoo and yourself.

The ideal outfit for a tattoo session is comfortable and roomy clothes that do not affect blood flow and will not hinder the tattoo process.

Big pieces on the body is one of the most pleasing and impressive things for a tattoo artist. A proper large and unitary tattoo is usually designed from the beginning or joined piece by piece. The tattoo artist needs a lot more time to prepare a sleeve tattoo compared to a smaller design. A really large tattoo requires many hours and multiple sessions. The cost varies depending on the hours a tattoo takes, the detail, the complexity, and the design size. It’s good to plan ahead and save money so you can afford these big pieces and not leave your tattoo unfinished.

A tattoo session may last between 1 and 12 hours. This depends on the design, its size and how detailed it is, as well as on the tattoo artist’s experience.

The deposit is necessary to book your appointment and for creating your custom design (a design specially drawn by the tattoo artist exclusively for the client, drawing his idea and adapting it on the body with greater precision) and we usually ask for 30% of the final tattoo cost. If the value of a tattoo is less than 50 euros, then the client doe not need to pay a deposit.

Unfortunately not. Every design drawn by tattoo artists in our space is meant to be used exclusively at our shop.

To be honest we wouldn't recommend it. Unless you have done laser hair removal in that area at least 6 weeks earlier.

    • The size depends on the image/text complexity and the body part where the tattoo will be placed.

    • We can gladly help you to find the best way to meet your needs by getting a tattoo at our shop that will stay on your body perfectly forever.

Our shop’s tattoo artists frequently release tattoo flashes (tattoo flashes= a variety of small designs, usually themed, that are available for tattoos). You can ask our shop more for more information on all available designs. Contact us via email email ([email protected]) or on Instagram (@polisdecay).

By sending a message at the Polis Decay page on Instagram (@polisdecay), via email ([email protected]) or by phone (+30 210 32 26 714).

The client should talk to the shop manager or the tattoo artist so we can see if we can undertake the tattoo. If the scar is not too deep or not too raised, we can take the case on. 85% of our body can get tattooed and the ink remains. When we tattoo over a scar, our goal usually is to hide the scar or to make it as invisible as possible on the body. It’s definitely important to choose a design that is suitable for the area. If it’s not, it’s best to consult our tattoo artist for a better option and to trust them.

There are some cases where it’s not allowed to get tattoos, or where we first need to consult a doctor. These cases are: when someone is allergic to pigments, to some ink ingredient, sensitivity or chronic skin conditions (e.g. psoriasis), if they are immunocompromised (AIDS, HIV, chemotherapy or using corticosteroids), or if they have problems with blood clotting (thrombocytopenia). Additionally, tattoos are not allowed in case of pregnancy, since all substances can be absorbed by the embryo and there is a high risk of infections.

Every tattoo artist in our space specializes in their own personal style, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t do other tattoo styles. We work with tattoo artists and guest tattoo artists from all over the world. The best way to stay informed on a regular basis is our Instagram page (@polisdecay). There you will be able to see our aesthetic and our artists’ work to find the style that best suits you. Otherwise you can book an appointment or contact us via email or social media so we can guide you with our experience.

  • Yes, you can bring a friend to our shop and they can wait for you in the waiting room.

  • Our studio is open to everyone. In order to avoid crowding in the booths (booths= areas where the tattoos take place) and so as not to distract the other artists, entry is forbidden to non-workers or to clients’ friends. Please respect our workplace and our tattoo artists. Don’t bring a large group with you to your appointment.

  • All Polis Decay Tattoo Studio staff members reserve the right to remove anyone from the studio at any time at their discretion.

  • Children are not allowed to enter the workplace where tattoos are being done.

Walk ins are tattoos without an appointment. Walk ins are definitely welcome in our shop. They are done on a first come, first served basis, depending on the artist’s availability and style. You can find our opening hours on Google Business so that you know that our shop is open and that we can serve you. Not all tattoos can be walk ins. Usually walk ins are small designs up to 10-12 centimeters. Every tattoo design may vary depending on the size and detail.

Of course. What you need to know or think about before you get a tattoo are the following:

  • Do I want a black and white or a colorful tattoo?
  • What style do I want my tattoo to be in?
  • Do I know the tattoo artist whose work and style I like?
  • Do I have a design or photo for reference that I like or that resembles the tattoo I want to get?

At Polis Decay you will find our staff who will be glad to help you get better guidance in choosing the design you want to get tattooed at our shop.

  • We ask that you have with you any reference material for the design you want. Our tattoo artist will examine it tattoo aand will suggest solutions for creating the final tattoo design. That material can be printed images, screenshots, artworks, personal sketches, etc.

  • Yes, most of our tattoo atattoo artists ask for a deposit to book your appointment. This refers to either initiating a design or booking a date. In order to schedule an appointment we ask clients to pay at least 50 euros when they book for custom designs or large scale tattoos. This amount is deducted from the final price of the tattoo on the day you get it done. If the tattoo requires more than one session, your deposit will be deducted on the first session. If you decide that you don’t like the design and you choose not to get a tattoo at Polis Decay Tattoo Studio, the deposit will be considered as a design fee and will cover the cost of the time you spent for your design’s creation. In case of a new design we will need a new deposit, and so on.

  • If you need to reschedule your tattoo appointment, you have to let us know up to 48 hours earlier, or you will lose your deposit.

  • Deposits are not refunded.

  • The minimum is 50 euros plus tax.

  • Prices rise depending on the size, the detail and the complexity of each tattoo.

  • Artists at Polis Decay Tattoo Studio offer free touch ups on tattoos that have been done at our shop, when the responsibility is ours and not the client’s. Touch ups can be done about two and a half months after the tattoo.

  • Tattoos exempt from free touch ups are tattoos in these areas: palm, underside of the foot, fingers, face, etc. It’s good to keep in mind in advance that tattoos wear off faster in these areas. In cases where improper healing was the client’s responsibility, our shop may deny the touch up.

  • Free touch up exemptions also include any client who has not booked an appointment. If there is availability we can definitely help you.

  • After the three-month healing period for a tattoo, our artists may charge you for a touch up at their discretion.

  • Some artists offer touch ups (paid) on tattoos that they have not done or that have not been done at our studio. This is treated as a brand new tattoo and the cost depends on the artist’s judgment.

  • To cancel or reschedule an appointment you should call or email the shop at least 48 hours before your appointment.

  • If you want to reschedule your appointment and get a different design, you lose the deposit you have paid and will need to pay a new deposit.

  • Deposits or pre-payments are not refunded.

    • Every client is charged separately as an individual. If you have a larger group of friends (five or more) and you all get tattoos from the same artist, you can discuss prices with him or her.

    • Every tattoo requires separate conditions and a new set of materials to be used in each sessions and these are charged separately.

If you are not happy with your tattoo, you will have to speak to a manager to get your case assessed.

    • Make sure to show up to your appointment and don’t schedule anything else on the day you are getting your tattoo.

    • If you know you are going to be late, let the shop know to make sure that we can help you. Other appointments might be booked after yours. If you are more than 20 minutes late, the tattoo artist reserves the right to reschedule your appointment.

Polis Decay Tattoo is not responsible if you don’t like your new tattoo, except where there is some visible problem for which our space is responsible. For example: wrong spelling on a word, the design not matching what you asked for. There is ample time for you to check before the tattoo takes place and you are responsible for that.

If our artist has made a mistake, Polis Decay Tattoo will find the best solution and will ensure that you are satisfied. Your satisfaction is our guarantee and always our top priority.

No refunds are given.

Tattoo removal is the final resort in case you are dissatisfied. Remember, a little more planning time will save you from something you might regret. You want to be certain that you are getting a tattoo with which you will be happy for the rest of your life. If, even with timely planning and good intentions, the final result is not perfect for you, you may return to the studio to discuss your options.

It’s not good to apply anesthetic creams on tattoos. The main reasons are skin distortion and color alteration. Almost in all cases numbing creams last from 45 minutes to an hour and a half and the skin’s pores should be open for better absorption. A tattoo artist should not go over the same areas, they should work the tattoo in a scanning way, from top to bottom and complete every area 100% before continuing. That’s a good solution for the client’s pain and it helps for not using anesthetic creams.

  • You need to be at least 18 years old to get a tattoo without parental permission.
  • You need to be at least 16 years old to get a tattoo with parental permission. Your legal guardian or your parent needs to sign a document validated by the authorities stating that he or she allows you to get a tattoo.
  • It depends on the depth of the mark or the scar that you have onon your body. It’s different in each case and we assess it differently. In general, a scar should be at least one or two years old, should not be reddish or pink in color, and it should not be too raised on the skin.

  • If you are looking to cover a scar or a mark, send us a photo of your scar and the design you are thinking of for covering it. Then we can book an appointment to help you and guide you on what is best to do.

  • Scar cover ups are accepted at the tattoo artist’s discretion.

  • Tanning may damage or fade your tattoo.

  • We do not recommend tanning before or after your tattoo appointment.

  • Once a tattoo is fully healed, we recommend using sunscreen with SPF 30+ or 50.

  • Keeping your tattoo away from the sun is an important part of the healing process and it also helps slow down the fading process over time.

  • If you are planning a vacation before or after your tattoo appointment, make sure that you follow the recommended protection guidelines for proper healing. That way you ensure the best results and your skin’s optimal health.

  • Face tattoos can change your life. Most of our artists do not recommend them for young ages.

  • However, we accept some cases. For example if you already have intense tattoos (e.g. face and hands).

  • Face tattoos are done at the tattoo artists’ discretion.

On its own, the process of getting a tattoo activates the body’s defenses. This happens because we create a superficial wound and the body is trying to heal it. It’s best to not get a tattoo if you don’t feel well or if you feel tired, since you have a weakened immune system and your health may worsen.

Several tattoo studios, even though they follow health and safety requirements, they usually have tattoo artists that don’t know all tattoo styles (realism, old school, fine line, etc.). That’s normal. Choosing a tattoo artist is a personal matter υπόθεση and has to do with each client’s research: “each person has the tattoo he deserves”. There are more demanding clients and other who are less so. Polis Decay Tattoo Gallery definitely appeals to more demanding clients and an audience that knows tattooing very well. Nevertheless, we would recommend to anyone to think what they want to imprint on their body, what style would suit them best and then to find the most suitable tattoo artist.

We do not recommend getting a tattoo if you’re nursing. However it depends on the area you want to get tattooed. If you have more questions, we recommend consulting your doctor before you make an appointment.

A fresh tattoo acts like an open wound on our body. It needs regular care, daily cleaning and washing (at least twice a day), constant moisturizing with the special cream. You should also not touch it with dirty hands because it increases the risk of infection. Those who have pets might get bacteria on the tattoo more easily. It’s best to keep the tattoo area away from animals, especially during the first days and to regularly change your sheets, towels, etc. For proper cleaning it’s best to use paper towels and to dry the area using a dabbing motion. In the summer months you need to beware of beach sand, seawater and pool water, since they are a source of germs and it’s easy for the tattoo to get infected.

    • Polis Decay Tattoo cannot guarantee that you will not have an allergic reaction to tattoo ink and/or to the materials used during your tattoo.

    • There are patch tests available but they might not be appropriate pending allergy.

    • If you know that you get allergic reactions, we would recommend consulting your doctor before you visit.

    • Some clients get allergic reactions to colorful and/or black ink, very rarely. Ask your tattoo artist about the ink brands used and check the formulation before you come to the shop to get tattooed.

    • Not usually. People tend to pass out due to nerves, lack of food, low blood sugar, or heat.

    • We do everything we can to ensure your comfort and safety and we have trained staff who know what to do if you pass out.

    • Most clients who pass out end up finishing their tattoo. However, you are not pressured to do so if you don’t feel comfortable continuing. We can reschedule or cancel your appointment. We leave it to your discretion, except if the tattoo artist thinks you should not continue.

Yes, the skin will return to the same condition as before once the tattoo is fully healed. If you get a tattoo on an area that has a lot of body hair, make sure the design is not too small as the hair may hide the tattoo design you have chosen.

    • It’s best to wait until your tattoo is fully healed before you shave or remove hair on the area.

    • Shaving or waxing during the tattoo healing process is a risk factor for fading or infection.

You need to cover your tattoo with sunscreen SPF 30 or 50. It’s also good to keep the area cooled and moisturized with water when the skin is exposed to the sun and heat for long periods of time.

    • Yes, you can go to the gym. But make sure there is not a lot of friction and that the tattoo doesn’t come into contact with the gym equipment.

    • After your gym session, make sure to keep the tattoo area clean and dry for optimal healing.

We do not recommend hammam or sauna after getting a new tattoo. Try to abstain until your piece is fully healed.

We do not recommend rubbing or touching the tattoo area. It’s best to abstain to abstain until your piece is fully healed.

Showering is perfectly normal. However, try not to use an acidic soap or to submerge the tattooed area under water for long periods of time. We do not recommend swimming in the sea or a pool.

We offer tattoo care products, but we also recommend lotions and soaps without fragrances or acidic pH to help your tattoo healing.

    • Your tattoo will no longer be dry, there will be no itching in the area, and the skin will not be shiny or flaking. Your tattoo will feel like it’s one with your skin.

    • If you have any doubts, like if you want to swim, visit a hammam or sauna, or gym, etc, send us a photo of your tattoo and ask us if your tattoo has fully healed, just to be sure.

You should not get a tattoo when you are:

      • Drunk

      • Under the influence of drugs or cannabis

      • Pregnant

      • Before surgery

      • After surgery

      • When you don’t know what you want

      • When you can’t afford it

      • When you are sunburned

      • When you haven’t showered

      • When you don’t have a support network

      • If you don’t have identification

      • When you are stressed

    • Most of the time, what you think is an infection is actually an irritation.

    • Allergic reactions or infections are extremely rare.

    • If you think that there is a problem, contact our shop or consult a doctor.

    • Polis Decay Tattoo Gallery is a fully licensed tattoo studio certified by Greece’s Public Health Service.

When tattoos are done in the summer months, we clarify to clients that “tattoos in the summer” are not a problem. Clients should know that a fresh tattoo should not come in contact with the sea for 10-15 days (the reason being that the sea contains iodine that can alter the colors and because a fresh tattoo is an open wound and there is risk of infection). You need 20 days to have passed to expose a fresh tattoo to the sun (the reason being that it’s still in the first layers of the skin and it needs to be protected). In all cases where the tattoo is exposed to the sun you need to protect it with sunscreen SP 30 or 50.

Many factors determine if a tattoo is good. The most important ones are: a fresh tattoo to have as little deviation as possible after its healing, to not injure the skin and to not reject the ink.

If you get a tattoo in parts of your arm or leg you have fewer or no possibility of it deforming. For a tattoo to deform you’d have to gain or lose about 35 kilos and the tattoo to be placed in areas such as the belly or the ribs. Before you get a tattoo it’s best to consult the tattoo artists regarding the design and placement, so that you can make the best choice.

For a recent tattoo it’s best to wait for it to finish healing. In case you want to get a tattoo at a different spot, away from the recent one, you can get it on the next day. When your old tattoo is fresh and not yet healed, it’s best to avoid getting a new tattoo in the same area. However, there are cases from very good and experienced artists, always after a discussion with them, to perform a back-to-back tattoo session (back-to-back-session= a tattoo session where during the first day part of the tattoo is worked in a scanning way and it’s finalized on the second day, again in a scanning way). This is an option that most tattoo artists do not select.
